Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar

Author:  Cheryl Strayed
Year:  2012
Publisher:  Vintage
Pages:  353

Goodreads Summary:

Life can be hard: your lover cheats on you; you lose a family member; you can’t pay the bills—and it can be great: you’ve had the hottest sex of your life; you get that plum job; you muster the courage to write your novel. Sugar—the once-anonymous online columnist at The Rumpus, now revealed as Cheryl Strayed, author of the bestselling memoir Wild—is the person thousands turn to for advice.
Tiny Beautiful Things brings the best of Dear Sugar in one place and includes never-before-published columns and a new introduction by Steve Almond.  Rich with humor, insight, compassion—and absolute honesty—this book is a balm for everything life throws our way

My Thoughts

I absolutely loved this book. I'm not an advice column reader but I was intrigued by Cheryl Strayed after reading Wild and was anxious to pick up some of her other stuff. Tiny Beautiful Things was definitely worth picking up. Very few of the actual questions that people asked Dear Sugar for advice on actually applied to me. But, I felt like every answer Sugar gave applied to me or could be applied to me. Sugar spoke to me and at times it felt like she could see inside me. I broke my cardinal rule about highlighted in books and defaced 1/3 of this book highlighting passages that touched me. I highly recommend this to anyone.

  1. This sounds like a different and appealing book. Curious to read about the advice- as I usually find advice columns interesting, ever if I don't have the same problem. Thanks for sharing. Glad you liked this one so much!
