2012 Big Book Summer Challenge

Sue Jackson at Book by Book is hosting a 2012 Big Book Summer Challenge. And it's really an easy challenge. All you have to do is read one book over 400 pages between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I know, I know. I'm getting a late start but I also noticed that there's a lot of books over 400 pages on my TBR pile; so, I decided to join in her challenge and see just how many of those big books I can get out of my TBR pile since my goal for the year is to read as many of the unread books in my house as possible. I figure this can be some extra incentive.

But, if you want to join in, you just have to read one book. Come on, that's not too hard. So, head over over to Sue's blog and join in the summer fun!

Here's a picture of just some of the big books from my TBR pile that I'm going to try to get to this summer:

  1. Welcome to the challenge, Melissa! I have the same incentive - lots of big books collecting dust on my TBR shelves!

Looks like you've got some good ones there - Cutting for Stone is very good, and everyone in my book group (me included) LOVED The Book Thief. My husband and son are making their way through George R.R. Martin's series and both loving it!

I'm reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon now - over 800 pages!

Have fun with your big books! I look forward to hearing how you liked them.

  2. Sorry it's taking me so long to respond, Sue. Your comment slipped by me. Woops. I loved Outlander. I had a friend give me the first five books for my birthday one year. Talk about adding to the TBR pile. Right now, A Breath of Snow and Ashes is patiently waiting for me to get to it.

    1. I'm getting so many recommendations on The Book Thief I think I'm going to have to move it up on the list. I look forward to seeing how far we get in the challenge this summer.

  5. Hi Rebecca. I loved The Knife of Never Letting Go. I hope you enjoy it. It was a quick read but the dialect took a little getting used to. Good luck with the challenge.
